So does Tongkat Ali cause insomnia? Tongkat Ali can definitely cause insomnia as it has been reported in studies to have a stimulative effect within the first few hours of taking it. So it’s best to avoid using Tongkat Ali late in the day if you want to avoid symptoms of insomnia.

In my experience I found it best to take Tongkat early in the morning on an empty stomach with my other daily supplements that I take. This gives me a great boost of energy in the morning when I want to get the most amount of work done. Taking Tongkat early in the morning like this has also allowed me to experience no negative side effects in the quality of my sleep. You could treat it very similar to how you would use coffee. If you wanted to get a good nights sleep, you would not want to drink a cup of coffee at 8pm. And similar with Tongkat, it would not be a good idea to take it after 5pm if you want to get to bed early and have a restful nights sleep.
Another aspect of this is dose. I take 400mg in the morning, and the benefits I experience are perfect for me. I don’t feel the need to take the higher doses that are more popular. And if you are taking the more popular doses of up to 1,000mg per day, that could definitely have an effect on your sleep as that is a pretty high dose and could increase that stimulative effect that lasts later into the day and cause issues with your ability to fall asleep. Everyone is different, so you’ll need to experiment with what is right for you.
