While there is no one conclusive answer, in most of the studies it seems that you can expect to experience some benefit after 4-6 weeks of supplementation. Tongkat Ali’s effects on testosterone levels will vary between individuals. However, some early studies indicate Tongkat Ali can boost testosterone production for up to 2-4 weeks after starting the supplement. People who have used the herb have evaluated its efficacy according to their own experience and blood tests. In scientific studies, analytical tests are done to determine whether or not changes occur.

To sum up results, the first change that is felt by most is having higher energy levels. Many users of Tongkat Ali reported feeling energized in the first hours. For some, it has been difficult to fall asleep if taken near bedtime.

However, changes in muscle tone, quality of the erection, sexual desire, are not so quick. Most report that these changes truly kick in after several weeks of Tongkat Ali supplementation.

This is probably because the metabolic mechanisms of how Tongkat Ali affects testosterone levels respond so much slower. Eurycomanone, the primary active ingredient in Tongkat Ali, is thought to increase Testosterone levels by allowing testosterone to release from sex hormone binding globulin. Testosterone bound to SHBG is not available for use by the body. By releasing testosterone binded to SHBG, it is free to start working like intended.

This is probably because Tongkat Ali works by increasing levels of key neurotransmitters in the brain, which control different aspects of physical and mental performance. In particular, Tongkat Ali is known to stimulate the production of dopamine and testosterone, which can aid in improving energy levels, increasing sexual desire, and improving general well-being.

The effects of Tongkat Ali will vary between individuals, since each persons body and biology is different. However, some of the common effects that people have experienced while taking a Tongkat Ali supplement include increased energy levels, improved endurance and stamina, increased mood and mental clarity, and increased sexual desire. Tongkat Ali works by stimulating key neurotransmitters in the brain, which control different aspects of physical and mental performance, including dopamine and testosterone production. This may help to optimize the body's natural functions and support general health and well-being.

Examples of How Long It Could Take Tongkat Ali to Start Working

In a May 2013 study published as The effect of Tongkat Ali on stress hormones and psychological state of mind of moderately stressed subjects, 63 subjects were tested compared to a placebo group over four weeks. In that study, testosterone was only tested at four weeks, so it is not possible to tell how fast the levels of Testosterone increased, but it is clear that it did. Another study came up with the following conclusions after five weeks.

Tongkat Ali, also known as Eurycoma longifolia and TA, is known for increasing testosterone levels and relieving ageing male symptoms. This study was conducted to study the effects of TA as an ergogenic supplement in older adults. Thirteen physically active men and 12 physically active women aged between 57-72 years were given a daily supplement of 400 mg of TA extract for 5 weeks.

Standard hematologic parameters were taken. In addition, total and free testosterone, dihydroepiandrosterone, cortisol, insulin-like growth factor-1, and sex hormone binding globulin were analyzed. As complementary biochemical parameters, blood urea nitrogen and creatine kinase, which are parameters for renal function and muscular injury, respectively, were determined, and muscular strength was determined using the simple handgrip test.

After treatment, the hemoglobin, testosterone, and dihydroepiandrosterone concentrations, and total testosterone/cortisol ratios, and muscle force were still markedly lower in the older women compared to older men. Hematocrit and erythrocyte counts increased modestly but were substantially higher in male seniors compared with female seniors. Treatment led to a 41 percent significant increase in total and free testosterone concentrations as well as muscle strength in men and women. The increased free testosterone in women was thought to result from significant reductions in the sex hormone binding globulin concentration. The study supports aergogenic benefits of TA via increased muscular strength.
