So can you take Tongkat Ali and Turkesterone together? Yes, you can take Tongkat Ali and Turkesterone together. Although you will want to be sure to let your doctor know that you are doing so and you should do blood work before and after supplementation of each in order to monitor your levels to ensure you do not experience any negative side effects. These are two very powerful supplements, so it’s important to monitor your blood work closely. We’ve talked a lot about Tongkat Ali recently, so let’s take a look at Turkesterone.

You can find our favorite Tongkat Ali supplement on the following page of our website to learn more.

What is Turkesterone?

What is Turkesterone made from? Turkesterone is a concentrated form of an ecdysteroid (also called a phytoecdysteroid), a compound that is found naturally in certain insects and plants. Ecdysteroids have anabolic and adaptogenic effects, which is why they are isolated and used to create supplements, which are taken for purposes like increasing muscle growth and athletic performance. While some ecdysteroids are found in foods like spinach, quinoa, and yams, turkesterone is not found abundantly in any common foods.

Instead, it is found naturally in plants that look like musklings, the majority of which are grown in central Asia, places such as Siberia, Asia, Bulgaria, and Kazakhstan. Plants from which it is often extracted include ones called Leuzea, or Maral Root, and Ajuga turkestanica.

Compared with other types of ecdysteroid supplements, like ecdysterone, studies show turkesterone seems a little more powerful, particularly with regards to its anabolic (muscle-building) effects. It is also pricier than ecdysterone, so some prefer using ecdysterone instead.

Is Turkesterone a steroid?

Ecdysteroids are naturally occurring steroids with chemical structures similar to androgens, including testosterone, the reproductive hormone of men, (although women also produce some testosterone). This means that they may have some of the same effects as testosterone in terms of helping muscle growth. Some studies have suggested that taking Turkesterone supplements can aid in maintaining healthy/normal levels of testosterone. However, taking a Turkesterone supplements is not the same thing as taking synthetic/anabolic steroids or testosterone, since it does not bind to the same androgen receptors in the body. Turkesterone isn’t considered to be an artificial hormone, nor is it used as a hormonal replacement drug, as are some of these other hormonal drugs.

Side Effects of Turkesterone

Turkesterone and other ecdy steroids are generally considered safer than anabolic steroids, mostly because they do not bind to androgen receptors, which may lead to adverse effects. This means that itas less likely that they will cause serious steroidal side effects, like changes in appetite, mood, sexual desire, hair growth, skin health, or sleep.

That said, there are some potential side effects to be aware of with turkesterone, which may include nausea, upset stomach, lightheadedness, and other digestive issues. To avoid these side effects, do not take it on an empty stomach, and always follow the dosing recommendations.

Is it legal to use Turkesterone?

Yes, you can buy this product at stores and online, it is sometimes listed as Ajuga Turkestanica Extract. It will not show up on drug tests, and is used legitimately by some athletes and bodybuilders.

In the United States, Ecdysteroids are currently not banned nor treated like Anabolic/Artificial steroids, however, a few are listed in the 2021 “Monitoring Schedule” of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). This means that WADA plans to collect more information about these substances in order to determine whether they should be banned from competitive athletes or not in the future.

Tongkat Ali vs Turkesterone | Which is Best?

Turkesterone has been shown to help increase muscle mass, but there are definitely more side effects associated with taking a steroid. Whereas Tongkat Ali is an all natural herb that has much more scientific research backing it’s benefits for both men and women. So depending on your goals, Tongkat Ali is most likely going to be better for you than Turkesterone.
