How Does Turkey Tail Help With HPV?

Does Turkey Tail Mushroom Help with HPV?

Yes, the compounds contained in turkey tail mushroom can help with HPV. Coriolus versicolor, more commonly known as Turkey Tail, has been used for centuries because of its ability to boost the immune system. Turkey tail contains immune-boosting polysacchariopeptides, krestin (PSK) and polysaccharid peptide (PSP), which has been found to increase white blood cells, stimulate dendritic cells, enable the body to make molecules to fight infections, and naturally boost the immune system. Turkey tail has also been studied for its efficacy in eliminating HPV 16 and 18 from the mouth, as well as the first stages of cervical cancer caused by HPV.

Studies on Turkey Tail and HPV

In this randomized trial, 61 patients tested positive for serotypes of HPV 16 and 18 (which is the oral form of HPV). Of that 61-patient group, 20 were given the extract of the mushroom Laetiporus sulphureus (LS), or the chicken-of-the-wood mushroom. The remaining 41 patients were given extracts of Trametes versicolor (TV) and Ganoderma lucidum (GL) – or turkey tail and reishi mushrooms. Turkey tail and reishi have compounds that are similar to the ones listed above, and they are both generally considered to be potent medicinal mushrooms.

A group of 41 patients given turkey tail and reishi had 88% recovery, while the group given chickens feet had just 5%. The study suggests more studies of applying turkey tail and reishi to oral HPV. The size of the study is indeed rather small. However, many feel that the results are strong enough that turkey tail mushroom should be used to treat HPV . Especially when used alongside conventional treatments and therapies.

Turkey Tail Mushroom Dosage for HPV

There is little known about appropriate dose amounts of turkey tail and HPV. In the clinical trials listed above, patients were given 400 mg each of turkey tail and reishi (dried, powdered into capsules) per day for two months, leading to near complete elimination for groups receiving this amount. No negative effects were reported.

In general, the dose you take should be determined by severity of symptoms, individual body chemistry, body weight, and a number of other factors. Treatments using turkey tail and reishi may be as high as 1000mg a day, or a single gram. This is usually considered to be a safe, effective dosage daily for therapeutics and for maintaining use in medicine.

More Info on HPV

If you are diagnosed with human papillomavirus (HPV), you may be feeling overwhelmed, afraid, and not sure what to do next. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are about 150 types of HPV, and at least 40 infect the genital areas. But most cases of viral infections are self-limiting.

Which means that most people are not even aware they have it, since there are no symptoms. In fact, the majority of people who are sexually active are going to have exposure to HPV. HPV, or human papillomavirus, is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the U.S., affecting 20 million people each year. An estimated 79 million Americans have been infected with HPV at some time during their lives.

There are two major types of HPV that you should worry about: Low-risk HPV and High-risk HPV. Low-risk HPV, which includes the HPV strains 6 and 11, is usually considered harmless, as it cannot cause cancer.

However, it may cause warts on the genitals. Despite the relatively small health risks, genital warts feel unsafe for people who get them.

Genital warts can range in overall size and location. HPV warts may occur in the vaginal opening, vagina, cervix, penis, urethra, perineum, skin of the penis, scrotum, or anus. High-risk HPV, including strains 16 and 18, has been linked to several forms of cancer, including cervical, vaginal, penile, and anal cancers.

Fortunately, there are a few natural supplements to help you stay ahead of HPV symptoms, including one that most people have never heard of: Turkey Tail Mushrooms.

How Does Turkey Tail Help With HPV?

To understand how Turkey Tail Mushrooms may be used to aid HPV treatment, it is useful to have an understanding of these powerful compounds in greater detail. PSPs, Protein-Bound Polysaccharides, This is a class of bioactive compounds that are especially abundant in turkey tail mushrooms. This compound has been studied for its ability to enhance the efficiency of natural killer cells, and has shown potent anti-tumor properties.

Beta-Glucans are soluble fibers found within the cell walls of turkey tails. While many mushrooms contain high levels of beta-glucans, turkey tail has some of the highest concentrations of this potent compound. Research shows that beta-glucans are powerful immune boosters that may help to stave off infections. PSK, polysaccharide-K, otherwise known as krestin, is a licensed product of mushrooms that is already used in cancer treatments in Japan.

Studies have shown initial successes in people suffering from gastric, breast, colorectal, etc. More studies are needed to fully understand the real medicinal benefits of Turkey Tail Mushrooms.
